Grace likens Guti to Mugabe

HARARE – First Lady Grace Mugabe yesterday heaped praises on Zaoga leader Ezekiel Guti, saying the popular preacher has traits similar to her husband President Robert Mugabe.

Grace extolled Guti and his wife Euna, as she officially opened Mbuya Dorcas Hospital in Waterfalls yesterday, which was founded by the couple.

“Let me say baba (father), you remind me of my husband, you are smart and you are articulate. Look at you baba, I love you. At this age? No third leg, it means something, may God continue to bless you with more years so that those who doubted what you were doing and what you are doing can see it for themselves, that if you believe in the lord, nothing is impossible,” Grace said.

“You are a great man; We shall always remember you as a great man.”

Grace also described the 93-year-old church leader as a man who “glow because of the thoughts you carry with yourself in your heart. The positive thoughts will actually help you not to develop wrinkles. People who develop wrinkles always carry negative thoughts. When the girls were singing you remarked it wasn’t easy back then, baba, I can say to you I am one of the beneficiaries of your work.

“A lot will be said, but don’t despair just continue to look ahead to transform lives.  And to amai, mom, we always look to you as a role model. We, as Zimbabweans, are proud to have you as a mother; we would want . . . as Zimbabwean women to walk in your footsteps,” she said.

Grace was accompanied by her daughter Bona and her husband Simba, and the couple’s child Simbanashe.

Mbuya Dorcas Hospital is named after Guti’s late mother.

The hospital has two wings: non-medical which focuses on healing and deliverance and a medical wing focusing on science.

“We take pride in knowing that there was no donor or external hand in the construction of the facilities we see here today.

“This is clear evidence that as indigenous Zimbabweans, we are capable of embarking on projects, without soliciting for external assistance.

“When a church organisation single-handedly accomplishes a task of this nature, any observer is easily convinced to conclude the congregants are a blessed, and indeed an empowered lot,” said Grace.

Mugabe earlier this year promised to give Guti, who also owns a university in Bindura, more land to build more projects.
