HARARE – Hip-hop artiste and New Africa Music director Coco Master has vowed to take local music industry to another level.
Coco Master real name Combination Chauya who is set to launch six hip-hop and Afro- pop singles next month told the Daily News that it is now time for local musicians to break into international markets through his Mt Pleasant-based studios.
“New Africa Music seeks to create artistes of international standards, the organisation is well connected globally and the sky is not even the limit to us.
“We want to give a new face to local hip-hop and Afro-pop industry,” said Coco Master.
Next month, Coco Master is set to popularise his music in Zambia where he is scheduled to perform.
Some of his tracks include Type featuring Ngoni Kambarami, My Story, Chop My Money, Harare, Haters Getaway, Pullover, African Girl and Awesome God among others.
Coco Master, a member of Walter Magaya’s Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries, began to take music seriously early this year.
“I used to record music without releasing it. Some of my fans pressured me to take music seriously after they noticed my talent.
“That is when I started uploading some of my music on social networks such as Youtube among others,” he said.
Now, Coco Master is aiming to establish a continental television channel under his New Africa Music and this will help to promote local artistes outside the country.
“Zimbabwe is awash with talent but lack of exposure is becoming a stumbling block for artistes.
“At New Africa Music, we strive to make videos which are of international standards such that they can compete with other artistic stuff from different parts of the world,” he added.
Of late, local music producers and artistes are doing a good job in producing tracks that match international standards.
Award-winning music producer Oskid last year produced the song Disappear by Winky D and it was a hit on BBC Radio Africa.
