Jah Prayzah returns to Beitbridge


HARARE – Award-winning music star Jah Prayzah will perform at Pagomba Night Club in Beitbridge tonight in a gig that will also feature upcoming musician Potifa Mopo.

Tomorrow the Jerusarema singer will take his popular act to Ritz Night Club in Masvingo before returning to Harare on Sunday for a gig at Junction 24 along Seke Road where he will perform alongside rising star Gary Tight.

Macheso lines up Harare gigs

SUNGURA maestro Alick Macheso will begin his packed weekend programme tonight with a gig at Warren Park Bar before heading to Caprive Pub and Grill at Ziko Shops in Seke tomorrow.

On Sunday, the Tafadzwa hit-maker will be at Zebra Village where he will share the stage with Faheem — the son of late sungura Daiton Somanje.

Sulu dates Mutoko

Dendera artiste Suluman Chimbetu’s weekend outing will begin tonight at Las Vegas in Southerton, Harare after which the Nyuchi singer will head to Mutoko tomorrow for a gig at the legendary Madzeka Night Club.

On Sunday Sulu, who will be performing new songs off his forthcoming album, will be at Manake Club in Ruwa.

Alexio, Tight Family descend on Dandaro

Urban soul singer Alexio Kawara and the Shades of Black will share the stage with Gary and Willom Tight at Dandaro Inn in the Harare Showgrounds. Gary and father Willom are currently topping the charts with the hit Tight Party.

Mutare rapper comes to Harare

Rising Mutare-based rapper Flexxo will launch his just-released mix tape titled Mushawarukwa at the Basement tomorrow afternoon.

The launch is a partnership involving Rap City, a new musical event organised by Jamrock to promote local hip-hop artistes, Shoko Festival and the Basement.

The MCs for the event are rappers Noble Stylz and Black Pearl.

The launch of Mushawarukwa, an album packed with Manyika songs and which is very strong on social commentary, will feature performances from MK47, Temple (formerly Blackbird), T Gonzi, Synik, Cashbid, Sharky and many local hip-hop artistes.

Jazz meets Neo Soul

This week’s edition of Afro-Jazz Nova on tonight at Pablo’z Restaurant will feature Neo Soul singer Prayersoul and Berklee Music College-trained jazz artiste Vee Mukarati.

A dash of Gospel a cappella

A Gospel a cappella music concert hosted by Warm Praise Music will take place tomorrow at City Bowling Club Harare. The gig will also feature Radiance Accapella, Armor Zimbabwe and Carlo Music.

On the Sofa with Julio Rizhi

The On the Sofa Series will return tomorrow afternoon at First Floor Gallery where Julio Rizhi will discuss his exhibition dubbed Mushonga. The discussion, that will feature special guest Tungamirai Chipfuyamiti, will address themes of drug abuse in high density areas and the role of art as advocacy and social commentary.

Art Festival 2016

Over 120 Zimbabwean artists will exhibit their works at Wild Geese Lodge from 10am. Members of the public will get the chance to meet the participating artists and buy art. The band Evicted will perform at the event.

Westgate Cinemas host kids’ fun day

Kids will have a chance to watch the movie Angry Birds at Westgate Cinemas tomorrow morning. There will also be water slides, jumping castles and colouring.

Girls for Girls

Girls from People’s College and Oxford College in Harare will embark on a 15-kilometre walk that seeks to raise funds for feminine hygiene education and provision of sanitary ware to rural girl children in Hurungwe.

The walk will start at 9:30 am from Sam Levy’s Village to Town House via Belgravia Shopping Centre.
