HARARE – Harare City fought gallantly yesterday to hold high-riding FC Platinum to a goalless draw in an entertaining Castle Lager Premiership match at Mandava Stadium.
Norman Mapeza’s men came into the game seeking a fifth straight win in the league, but they had to settle for a share of the spoils.
The platinum miners survived a number of anxious moments from the Sunshine Boys, who are yet to win away from home this season.
Taurai Mangwiro’s charges dominated the exchanges, especially in the second half where they missed a number of gilt-edged scoring chances.
FC Platinum remain on top of the log standings with 13 points and lead second-placed CAPS United by three points.
United host Border Strikers at the National Sports Stadium this afternoon and may become joint leaders with Mapeza’s side if they manage to beat the visitors.
In other Premier League matches played yesterday Ngezi Platinum registered their second win of the season with a 2-0 win against Tsholotsho at White City Stadium.
Second half goals from Tichaona Mabvura and Innocent Sokose were enough to hand the new boys maximum points.
It was a good response from Cliff Kadurira’s charges following last weekend’s defeat to FC Platinum.
Yesterday’s Results: FC Platinum 0-0 Harare City; Chicken Inn 0-1 Bulawayo City; Tsholotsho 0-2 Ngezi Platinum.
