LUVEVE – Bulawayo City stunned reigning league champions Chicken Inn to register their first win of the season in a Castle Lager Premiership match here yesterday.
Midfielder Eddie Nkhulungo scored the all-important goal seven minutes into the game that ensured maximum points for Bulawayo City.
Nkhulungo found space just outside the penalty box and dribbled past Chicken Inn defender Moses Jackson before sending his right footed effort past goalkeeper Pride Zendera.
“More wins are coming. We gained our confidence and we knew we were going to win,” an elevated City coach Philani Ncube said after the match.
Bulawayo City took control of the match from the onset with Emmanuel Mandiranga, goal-scorer Nkhulungo and captain Xolisani Moyo dictating the pace in the middle of the park.
After the match, Chicken Inn assistant coach Prince Matore who was standing-in for the absent Joey Antipas said: “We wanted to regroup and collect maximum points after a loss to ZPC Kariba but we failed. Yes we lost but we will regroup. We are still in it and we can defend our tittle. It’s early days, we just need to work on a few areas like accuracy in passing.”
