HARARE – Internationally acclaimed Mokoomba will share the stage with Jah Prayzah in the 500-seater Theatre in the Park tomorrow night.
Rooftop Promotions, who are organising the gig, told the Daily News that the show was another proof that Theatre in the Park was increasingly becoming a hub of diverse entertainment.
“The musical show will be the third show to be performed at Theatre in the Park new stage, the first one being Bob Nyabinde’s love songs concert, followed by the recently-introduced Jazz on Sunday that featured Wilbert Marowa and friends,” said Rooftop Promotions spokesperson Robert Tapfumaneyi.
He added that 450 tickets for the concert are being sold in advance and the show will also feature Donovan Mtangira and Prayersoul.
“We know both groups are crowd pullers but we are applying the first-come, first-served rule. Once the show is sold out, then it’s over,” said Tapfumaneyi.
Mokoomba, who recently made a historical debut at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York in late March, will use the concert to prepare for their tour of Europe that will take place from mid-June to the end of August.
Despite their well-documented exploits outside Zimbabwe, Mokoomba will be the first to admit that Jah Prayzah is the country’s ultimate crowd-puller. Since he launched his latest album Jerusarema last year in March, crowds at his shows have swelled enormously.
