BULAWAYO – A senior employee at Zimpapers in Bulawayo has been dragged to court on allegations of defrauding the company of over a thousand dollars.
Zimpapers are publishers of Herald, Chronicle, Sunday News and Sunday Mail.
Daphney Zinyama, 34, who was employed as a secretary for medical aid at the Zimpapers branch in Bulawayo appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Gladmore Mushove charged of fraud.
Zinyama who pleaded not guilty to the charge was remanded out of custody on $100 bail and will return to court on December 12.
In the case, Zimpapers is represented by Bulawayo branch chief security officer Patrick Bhunu.
The State alleges that sometime during the period extending from January to February this year as a secretary in her department Zinyama would request cash in the form of vouchers for medical aid payments.
She allegedly requested a voucher on January 8 for $345 but paid $145 to medical practitioners before converting $200 to her own use.
Two days later, she requested a $249 voucher but only paid $99 to medical practitioners before converting the remainder to her own use, the court was told.
On four different other occasions Zinyama used the same method where she converted various amounts of cash to personal use.
As a result of the alleged fraud the organisation was prejudiced of $1 631.
The case came out when the organisation conducted an internal audit which led to a police report being filed.
