EDITOR — The recent surge in rape cases especially by pastors and church leaders has reached alarming levels.
Church leaders should embody Christian values and be exemplary.
They are able to counsel and advise their followers as such they are naturally trusted by their respective congregants.
It is deplorable that most of them are now abusing that trust into violating the vulnerable in their churches especially women and children.
It is high time government and the courts take a stronger stance against such cases.
Perpetrators must be given stiffer penalties to deter would-be offenders.
Such cases must have special attention in courts for example the cases should be brought forward for quick trial.
Awareness campaigns should be carried out especially in these churches where victims are afraid to speak and yet continue to suffer in silence.
