Nzuwah to head four commissions

HARARE – President Robert Mugabe yesterday officially appointed Mariyawanda Nzuwah to head four constitutional commissions.

In a statement issued by Misheck Sibanda, the chief secretary to the President and Cabinet, Nzuwah has been appointed chairperson of the Civil Service Commission, Police Service Commission, Defence Service Commission and Prisons and Correctional Service Commission. Nzuwah also becomes a member of the Judicial Services Commission.

Sibanda was re-appointed chief secretary to the President and Cabinet as well as ipso facto head of the Public Services.

Four deputy chief secretaries and secretaries to the executive commissions were also appointed in terms of Sections 205(1) of the new constitution of Zimbabwe.

Ray Ndukula has been appointed the accounting officer in the office of the President and Cabinet.

Justin Mupamhanga was also appointed deputy chief secretary to the President and Cabinet while Rtd Col Christian Katsande was also appointed deputy chief secretary to the President and Cabinet.

Pretty Sunguro was appointed secretary for the Civil Service Commission, Police Service Co
mmission, Defence Forces Service Commission and Prison Service Commission.

All appointments were in accordance with the new Zimbabwe Constitution and are with effect from the day they assumed their duties.
