BULAWAYO – FC Platinum slim title hopes went up in smoke at Luveve Stadium on Sunday when they drew 1-1 with How Mine in an evenly balanced Castle Premiership encounter.
With the draw, Lloyd Mutasa’s men remained in fourth place on the log with 49 points and can no longer catch log leaders Harare City, who have 53 points, going into the last round of matches this weekend.
There was not much action in the first half but Platinum into the second period a more determined side after the introduction Marshal Mudehwe for the struggling Michelle Kutsvairo.
Against the run of play, How Mine, however, took the lead in the 60th minute through Warren Dube, who beat a badly positioned Francis Tizayi.
FC Platinum equalised in the 81st minute through captain Daniel Veremu’s spot kick. How Mine defender Nelson Tachi was penalised by referee Thabani Bamala for fouling Daniel Ngoma inside the box.
