MUTARE – Buffaloes eased their relegation worries with a 1-0 win over a stubborn Division One-bound Monomotapa in a hard fought Castle Premiership match at Sakubva Stadium on Sunday.
A Roy Mwenga 88th minute cheeky chip over a flatfooted Tapiwa Zvaita in goal for Monoz won the match for the army side.
Buffaloes now have 38 points but need to win their last match against FC Platinum next weekend to guarantee their safety.
Yesterday’s match started almost an hour late after Monomotapa arrived venue late and kicked off the match without conducting any warm-up.
Monoz, however, frustrated Buffaloes with a plucky performance and were unlucky not to emerge from Sakubva with a point.
Their hearts were broken by Buffaloes’ second half substitute Mwenga, who stole the game with two minutes to go with a cheeky finish.
