HARARE – Prominent gospel acapella groups Shower Power and Heralds of the Morning will headline an all-male gospel concert at the Harare International Conference Centre that will feature Seventh Day Adventist musical groups from South Africa.
The December 14 concert dubbed “Home At Last” is being touted as a reunion of renowned Adventist groups and an opportunity to thank God “for what he has done for us”.
Groups expected to grace the unique concert include Bright Morning Sounds, Bulawayo Sounds of Comfort and Kwekwe Bright Mansions.
Concert organiser Modern Ngwenya, the chairperson of Heralds of the Morning which has been in existence for over 25 years, is very upbeat about the concert.
“As Heralds of the Morning, we are reuniting with our fellow male singers from other parts of the world and give our followers a prayerful moment through song,” said Ngwenya.
“It is time we preach the gospel of his second coming through songs and we are doing so free of charge.”
Accapella music has grown in leaps and bounds, transforming itself into a musical genre capturing the hearts and minds of many Zimbabweans, particularly the more mature audience.
Though the concert is expected to give exposure to new talent, the spotlight is expected to zoom in on Shower Power and Heralds of Morning who have been on several highly-successful foreign tours.
Heralds of the Morning, in particular, have recorded four albums and four DVDs.
“We are pressing on towards heaven. It is time we sing for the Lord hence we are inviting everyone to come and join us in prayer through music,” he said.
