HARARE – Twalumba technical manager Wilson Mutekede has refused to rule his side out of Northern Region Division one title race despite trailing the log leaders ZPC Kariba by 10 points with four games left before the end of the season.
Twalumba are in second position with 58 points from 30 games and need to win all of their remaining matches.
However, log leaders ZPC Kariba will be promoted with a win this weekend.
Despite their slim chances of winning the championship, Mutekede believed that they still have a good chance and need to remain focused.
“I think at this stage we must not lose hope the title race is still on. We have four games before the end of the season and anything can happen,” Mutekede told the Daily News.
“I am happy with the team’s performance, we have got young players and they have managed to reach our target this season. We need to take each game as it comes. There won’t be any easy matches from now. We will lose focus if we start thinking of those matches.
“We are playing against Banket this weekend, we know that Banket are fighting for relegation survival and they will be out to collect maximum points. We don’t want to put ourselves under unnecessary pressure. We want to play our normal game in the remaining matches.”
