HARARE – The Zimbabwe Koykushin Kan karate Union (ZKKU) will Saturday hold a ceremony to honour eight karatekas who excelled at the Cape Town international grading event last year.
Zimbabwe’s Sensei Mugove Muhambi was upgraded to fourth dan black belt, which is one of the highest ranked belts in Southern Africa.
Sensei Eric Chinembiri received third dan, the trio of Admire Chingozhoro, Brian Chiringa, Jabulani Mabena were upgraded to second dan while kudakwashe Katiyo, Courtney Nyarugwe and Leedme Muhlohlo received first dan black belts.
ZKKU public relations manager Lowell Mazwei said: “We will have a ceremony to celebrate the achievements of our karatekas. However, we are not giving them money prize, we only have certificates.
“These karatekas deserve to be honoured for the job well done. This is no mean achievement. It’s remarkable hence the need to keep motivating them.”
