We’ve hit form at the right time: Kaindu

BULAWAYO – Castle Premiership log leaders Highlanders will be out to consolidate their lead at the summit of the log when they travel to Rimuka Stadium to play army side Black Rhinos on Sunday.

Bosso are on 44 points and enjoy a two point lead over the chasing pack that has Dynamos, Harare City and FC Platinum, who are tied on 42 points.

CAPS United are in fifth spot with 39 points to their credit.

Speaking after his team’s 4-1 midweek mauling of Beitbridge-based Tripple B at Barbourfields Stadium on Wednesday, Highlanders head coach Kelvin Kaindu said his team would be out to continue with their winning ways against Rhinos.

“It is good that we also play well when playing away from home and while I acknowledge that we will be playing against a team that has been consistent when playing in their own backyard we will have to come up with a formation and strategy that will give us goals,” Kaindu said.

Rhinos have not lost at Rimuka this season but come up against a Highlanders side that has of late been rampant in front of goal.

Bosso has been scoring for fun in their recent matches and registered high scoring results against Buffaloes in the Mbada Cup and in their last league game against Tripple B.

Central to Bosso’s good run of form has been their squad depth with veteran players playing a critical role in the team’s success.

Experienced midfielder Mthulisi Maphosa was the driving force behind Highlanders’ cup victory over Buffaloes last Sunday at Mucheke Stadium while in the midweek home triumph over Tripple B another veteran, Njabulo Ncube, played a leading role.

“It’s not easy to maintain the top spot but the attitude and the form that we have at the moment is very important and I think we have hit form at the right time,” Kaindu added.

Rhinos are involved in a fight for survival and key to their cause are veteran strikers Gilbert Mushangazhike and Philip Marufu, whose combination upfront has been fantastic.

The army side is fourth from bottom with 27 points from 24 matches.
