HARARE – A hot new upmarket live music venue called Misty’s will open its doors for the first time to the public tomorrow at Newlands Shopping Centre.
Featuring quality music performances, the club is set to change the cultural nightlife of the Zimbabwean capital in a big way.
“Misty’s will cater for all manner of music including contemporary jazz; RnB, fusion, reggae, blues, afro-jazz and afro-pop.
The new club’s classy bar offers a well-stocked bar and wide range of cocktails, with a light snack menu, and opens Tuesdays through to Sundays.
The live music will be featured from Wednesday to Sunday each week.
The opening night tomorrow will feature a popular four-piece band called Evicted led by vocalist Derek Bailey.
The talented lead vocalist will be backed by some of Harare’s talented artistes who include Dominic Benson on bass, Theo Rhode (guitar) and Justin Soutter (drums).
The group is well travelled in the southern African region and delivers a mixed-bag of funk, rock and pop.
Misty’s is a partnership involving highly-respected Zimbabwean orthopaedic surgeon and long-time jazz musician Alban Bowers, acclaimed pianist, teacher, composer producer and music director Bernie Bismarck and others who have responded to a call for a classy venue with quality entertainment.
Alban Bowers said, “Music has always been my passion since I was a child and it is exciting that we have the opportunity to provide an upmarket platform for fellow Zimbabwean musicians to perform and develop.
“I have travelled significantly around the world and visited many wonderful music venues where musicians can thrive and people can enjoy great music in a dedicated vibrant venue.
“I have collaborated with Bernie Bismark and Dominic Benson of BB Music Promotions to source the best musicians Zimbabwe has to perform at Misty’s so the vibe is going to be amazing.”
