HARARE – Red-hot dancehall star Darlington “Dadza D” Zhanje and pioneer urban groover Enock “Ex-Q” Munhenga will descend on Mutare’s Afripot Sports Bar tonight in a gig dubbed “Summer Jam Party.”
The Summer Jam Party gigs, which will happen in popular entertainment joints throughout the country, aim to link the country’s hottest stars with their fans.
Dadza D and Ex-Q will be supported by DJ Storm, DJ Dee Nosh, DJ Ash Stylez and DJ Niveck.
For the Chitungwiza-based Dadza D whose exploits as a supporting act during King Shango’s 2010 Zimbabwe tour earned him the nickname “Prince of Fire”, has slowly risen to be one of Zimbabwe’s most respected dancehall chanters.
“The Prince of Fire”, who recently collaborated with German reggae group Symbiz Sound, is expected to perform popular songs like Magetsi Aenda, Uyu Ndiani and Undifonere.
Tonight’s Mutare gig will present another opportunity for Ex-Q to prove that he still has what it takes to compete against the new crop of musicians sprouting on the Zimbabwean music scene.
The Ndichamutevera singerhad of late scaled down on music performances due to business commitments.
DJ Dee Nosh, who will share the stage with Dadza D and Ex-Q in Mutare, is looking forward to tonight’s gig.
“We want our fans to see us (artistes) as a team that is why we have organised tonight’s show and many others which will be done throughout the country,” said the deejay.
The Summer Jam Party series of gigs kicked off recently at Londoners Sports bar in Harare before being taken to Chegutu and Gweru.
Next week the artistes will invade Red Rat Outdoor joint in Marondera where dancehall’s man-of –the-moment Shinsoman, will share the stage with Dadza D and Ex-Q. The Harare -based trio will be supported by top Djs.
