His uncle Sam Mataure confirmed the death.

“He died in Mutare at his mother’s residence in Dangamvura,” Mataure said.

“Everyone knows that he has not been well for sometime now. There are no burial arrangements yet as we are still getting in touch with people, communicating the sad news.”

Mataure said Jamal did not have a family of his own, except for his mother who was nursing him.

The lanky talented artiste had been silent for a long time only to come back on the music scene in 2011 with album Zvinoita Bhoo which carries both contemporary and gospel music.
