Comedian Carl makes SA laugh

HARARE – Local comedian Carl Joshua Ncube is delighted with the impact he is making on his current tour of neighbouring South Africa.

The award-winning Zimbabwean comedian is performing a series  of shows in Mzansi that have been put together by promoters in Africa’s biggest economy.

“It has been awesome to be headlining shows in Johannesburg. Seeing my face on big screens all over Monte-casino is so awesome,” said Ncube.

“It is such a huge deal for me to be introduced as the main act. I feel that I have done very well and I am excited about this. I am happy because the new material I recently created is being received so well. I have one more show on Friday (tomorrow) to wrap up such a successful tour,” he said.

Zimbabwe’s leading comedian has performed at Heathway Shopping Centre alongside Jason Goliath, Chris Forrest and others under the banner Awednesday.

“I am so happy about the Zimbabweans that came to my shows. They laughed loud, clapped louder and screamed longer; it was so awesome you would have thought there were thousands of them.

“There were many South Africans and other nationalities too.

“I was invited here by Parkers Comedy Club, the biggest comedy club in Africa and by the Goliath and Goliath duo that is making waves in South Africa.

“We have done three shows so far,” he said.

Ncube is, however, disappointed that the recent tragic shootings at Westgate Mall in Nairobi has scuppered a tour to that country.

“The Kenya show was cancelled because of the hostage situation, so it has been moved to a later date.

“My Kenyan show for the Kings of African comedy was supposed to take place in between my South African tour. It was facilitated by Eric Ormondi the biggest comedian in Kenya right now. I will be back on Saturday.”
