It is the State’s case that on March 14, Kwarira and his accomplices went to Highlands armed with homemade machetes and an axe.
Kwarira and his accomplices allegedly gained entry into the yard by scaling a pre-cast wall before they entered an upstairs bedroom by cutting burglar bars.

The court heard that Kwarira ransacked the house and stole property worth $6 000 before locking the couple in the television room.
On July 3, Kwarira and his gang allegedly went to Avondale West wielding a rifle, revolver and an axe.
They allegedly forced their way into the house and confronted Jin Gray at gunpoint while she was watching television.

On September 21, the gang allegedly went to a Mount Pleasant house where they seized cash and electrical gadgets worth $15 000.
Detectives on September 22 received information that Kwarira had been spotted in the city centre.

Following his arrest, he implicated Costa Basiyawo and Tafadzwa Matinenga — who are still at large — as his accomplices.
