Young Sables face Namibia

POLOKWANE – Zimbabwe schools Under-18 rugby team will looking to end their 2013 Coca-Cola Craven Week on a high when they face arch rivals Namibia at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday morning.

In the past two years the Namibians have proved to be a hard nut to crack as Zimbabwe lost in all meetings.

In 2011 in Kimberly, the Young Sables were put to the sword losing 55-18. Last year in Port Elizabeth, the Namibians emerged 28-07 victors.

2013 seemed to be a different ball game as the Namibians have had mixed fortunes winning one match against Griquas 27-10 and losing one to Border City 38-20.

Zimbabwe head into the match as favourites as they currently sit on top of the unofficial log with 10 points together with Border City after winning their two matches against Griquas and Limpopo Blue Bulls.

The Young Sables have made four changes to the team that beat Limpopo Blue Bulls on Wednesday.

Thabani Mujeni moves back to loose head prop while at tight head Tanaka Chikwezvero has been dropped to the bench and will be replaced by vigorous Tapiwa Muringani.

Bart Zwart returns at hooker replacing Stephen Bhasera, whostarted the last match.

Tafadzwa Kufazvinei and Philangezwi Mudambanuki return at 4 and 5 respectively. Zimbabwe will be hoping their hard working loose trio of skipper Daniel Moolman, Nick Burnette and Ivan Bawdan bring their ‘A’ game once more as they have been outstanding from at the tournament.

Namibian is a forward oriented team and are likely to use their forwards a lot as their pack is slightly heavier and weighs about 775kg compared to 772kg of the Young Sables.

Zimbabwe should aim at starving them the ball and disrupt their line outs if they are to roll a few heads.

Young Sables coach Godwin ‘Jaws’ Murambiwa has kept faith in his quick backline which made light work of Limpopo Blue Bulls in the last match on Wednesday.

The back three of Tawanda Ngosi, Jabulani Mutukwa and Brandon Boshi has got plenty of gas to burn which might prove the difference if they are given space.
