BULAWAYO – Police in Bulawayo are on a manhunt for three suspected armed robbers who terrorised residents in the city’s eastern suburbs and stole three pistols.
According to Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Mandlenkosi Moyo, the suspects Fanuel Muchineripi, Anold Kwarira and Farai Sabawo (ages not given) targeted the elderly white and Indian community at night.
Inspector Moyo said the armed robbery cases were committed between March and April this year.
“In the first occasion they took a Browning pistol and magazine loaded with nine rounds from the complainant’s gun cabinet.
“They then used the weapon to threaten their victim and stole cash and jewellery worth ?$6 000,” Inspector Moyo said.
“In the second incident, one of them entered into the house whilst the other remained in a vehicle suspected to be a BMW model.
“The suspect threatened the complainant demanding cash and jewellery before they fled with cash amounting to over $4 000 and jewellery worth $1 500,” he added.
In separate incidents, Moyo said the three accomplices who have been on the run for almost three months now, allegedly demanded cash, jewellery and later stole two 22 Star pistols with loaded magazines kept in a gun cabinet.
Inspector Moyo appealed to anyone with the information on the whereabouts of the fugitives to contact the Officer in Charge (Homicide) Chief inspector Stephen Mpofu on 09 71568, 0713 254 081, 0773 713383 or report to any nearest police station.
