HARARE – Nyasha Mutsaru claimed the Miss Global Zimbabwe crown on Friday after outshining 14 other beauties in a tightly-contested beauty pageant held at Crowne Plaza Monomotapa.
Law student Michelle Munyanduki walked away with the Miss International title with 14-year-old Lyshanda Moyas being crowned the third best beauty on the night.
By virtue of winning the Miss Global Zimbabwe title, Mutsaru earned the right to represent Zimbabwe in the Miss Global International pageant in Jamaica while Michelle will take part in the Miss International pageant in Japan .
For coming out tops, Nyasha walked away with a $50 000 loan from the Zimbabwe Youth Council which she will use to revamp selected old peoples’ homes as part of her project.
The new Miss Global Zimbabwe also won a smart phone from G Tel Mobile and a week-long stay at Stephen Margolis Resort.
Mutsaru believes winning the Miss Global Zimbabwe title is reward for her passion for charity work.
“I am so overwhelmed but all I can say is that my winning results from my passion for helping the less fortunate,” she said.
Munyanduki, who won the Miss International title, will scale up her project of encouraging youths to vote in the forthcoming elections while Lyshanda Moyas will be working with Harare City Council and Astra Paints in repainting dilapidated buildings.
Miss Global Zimbabwe is an annual tourism beauty pageant which started in August 2012. Mutsa Mutare won the inaugural event with Bulawayo beauty Mellissa Chaka walking away with the Miss Heritage title.
Mutsa went on to represent the country in Jamaica in the world finals where she made it into the top 15 out of 50 countries.
