HARARE – Shabanie Mine have been slapped with a $8000 fine following crowd trouble that caused the abandonment of their match against Harare City early this month.
The Zvishavane side were charged and found guilty of contravening Section 31 of the PSL Standing Orders by the league’s Disciplinary Committee chaired by Don Moyo.
The match was abandoned after 81 minutes play when the visitors were leading 3-1. The home fans were incensed when the referee disallowed a Shabanie goal. The angry mob began to throw missiles onto the pitch, leading to the abandonment of the match.
In passing their judgment delivered yesterday, the Disciplinary Committee noted that Shabanie fans were unruly in their behaviour.
“The effective fine of $8 000, together with the cost of hearing is to be paid by 30 June 2013,” read part of the judgement. “The match is awarded to Harare City on a 3-0 score line.” – Blessings Mashaya
