Mugabe takes swipe at media
HARARE – President Robert Mugabe took a swipe at the media for peddling lies and using his name to push their sales.
Mugabe said this after signing the Constitution Amendment Bill into law.
“Some are using my name to sell their papers. Mugabe this Mugabe that, I am compiling all the Mugabe papers so that I claim compensation for making profit with my name. Our journalism must be journalism of truth; you are now being downgraded because you act like people who have never been to school. Don’t tell lies,” Mugabe said.
Mentioning the State-run Herald newspaper by name, Mugabe said the newspaper had become obsessed with Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai.
“Herald yakananganawo na VaTsvangirai (is targeting Tsvangirai).” – Bridget Mananavire
