Dudu set to launch jazz album in Mutare

HARARE – Internationally-acclaimed jazz songstress Dudu Manhenga will launch her album For You at the Courthauld Theatre in Mutare this afternoon.

The Mutare album launch is part of a national album launch tour which will take Dudu to other Zimbabwean cities.

Last month Dudu hosted an event which brought together her business partners in an effort to improve the marketing and distribution of her album.

“We promised that we would have a series of launches,” said the well-travelled musician.
“For the Harare one we targeted distributors and retailers to increase the circulation of our music.
Traditionally we have always had two launches one in Harare and another one in Bulawayo but this time around we will tour the rest of the country.

“This Saturday (today) we are going to be in Mutare for a concert and album launch before moving to Bulawayo and Victoria Falls.

We had been getting feedback on social networking sites and our fans were complaining that they were not getting our music and I feel a series of launches will do the trick.”
Dudu who is married to Mutare-born drummer Blessing Muparutsa, will share the stage with afro contemporary gospel outfit ‘REVERB’.

“We will perform alongside outfit ‘REVERB’ in Mutare. I have worked with them before on their second album.

They are such a talented group.

“We are going to have a public launch and concert for all our fans in Harare who could not be part of the first launch on June 1,” she said.

Dudu says her latest album is receiving a lot of airplay on all broadcasting stations. “The feedback has been great.

“Our fans are very happy and the songs are being played on most broadcasting stations. I am really grateful to all business partners for the effort they have been putting; the worship album is a success.  It is really amazing. I have already started receiving invitations from churches, conferences.”
