Pastor G, Nigerian star to collaborate
HARARE – Pastor G has lined up a duet with South Africa-based Nigerian gospel music artiste Yolanda Ugo.
The duo’s imminent collaboration is being facilitated by Joe Machingura the executive producer of Zimbabwean music label Heshi Mfeshi and Zimbabwean dancehall star Buffalo Souljah who is based in South Africa.
Pastor G, whose real name is Stanley Gwanzura, told the Daily News yesterday that plans for the duet were underway.
“I was approached by Machingura as there was a South African label looking for a Zimbabwean gospel artiste to work with their musician,” said the popular gospel artiste.
“Right now we are still in the process of signing off the deal and it is indeed something in the pipeline. But I will be glad to work with someone in the region as it will help us both in marketing,” he said.
Ugo, who is under the management of Buffalo Souljah, is looking forward to collaborating with the renowned Zimbabwean gospel artiste.
“It will be a great pleasure working with him. I have been impressed by his profile in Zimbabwean gospel music.
“It will open more doors to collaborations between Nigerian and Zimbabwean artistes,” she said.
Award-winning Buffalo Souljah is convinced that a successful Pastor G-Ugo duet will provide more collaborations between Nigerian and Zimbabwean gospel musicians.
“The Pastor G duet deal is through Heshi Mfeshi who suggested him as one of the biggest gospel artistes in Zimbabwe,” said the dancehall star.
“We hope the duet will create an impact in Zimbabwean and Nigerian gospel.
“The recording is scheduled to take place in Zimbabwe around mid-May and will also involve the shooting of a music video for the track in Zimbabwe.
“She (Yolanda Ugo )is also planning to do her album launch in Zimbabwe.
Her style of music is praise and worship which is unmistakably Nigerian,” he said.
Buffalo Souljah is determined to use his label UNA Ent to unite African artistes.
“My record label UNA Ent which stands for United Nations of Africa does a lot of work with African artistes.
“We have been pushing her (Yolanda Ugo) in other parts of Africa.
“Yolanda Ugo was based in the United States of America and only returned to Nigeria recently.
“We have been in touch for quite some time. I was introduced to her by a Nigerian friend Kate Child who is also one of her managers.”
