We have clear vision for the future: Tsvangirai
HARARE – Zimbabweans must look for a leader who is going to provide a clear vision for the future in the forthcoming election, Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai has said.
The MDC leader said he was not going to focus on where President Robert Mugabe and Zanu PF have failed, but articulate clear policies about the future.
“For me the challenge is not about President Mugabe and Zanu PF failures which are well-known and well-documented, but it is about the MDC talking about its specific plans and vision,” the premier said in a Facebook post.
“The coming election is about who is going to provide a clear vision for the future. It is about the electorate analysing the policies and programmes of parties and evaluating on who could take this country forward.”
Tsvangirai’s party has launched an economic blueprint, dubbed JUICE, which lays out in clear terms a theme the MDC leader has been repeating recently about creating a $100 billion economy in Zimbabwe.
JUICE will focus on the four pillars of civilisation: power, communication, water and roads.
The PM will continue to challenge Zanu PF’s indigenisation policy and how it has threatened most elements of his jobs plan and embroiled Harare in a bitter fight.
The 2013 watershed elections must not be based on political parties, the MDC leader said, but on choosing visionary leaders who are able to move Zimbabwe from a failed State status to a democratic, developmental State. – Bridget Mananavire
