Gahadzikwa eyes Europe move

HARARE – FC Platinum midfielder Allen Gahadzikwa says he is happy at the Castle Premiership side but is unsure whether he will stay for another season.

The former Motor Action man told the Daily News he could soon join a club in Belgium or Sweden.

“There is a possibility of going to Belgium and Sweden,” Gahadzikwa said yesterday. “There is a guy who is working on making that possible for me.

“But what I can say at the moment is that I am still contracted to FC Platinum and I’m 100 percent committed to the club.”

If the Belgium deal materialises, Gahadzikwa will join fellow Zimbabweans Cephas Chimedza, Vusa Nyoni, Honour Gombami and Ovidy Karuru, who are currently playing for clubs in the European country.

“If a foreign club comes calling, I will take it, if not I will stay at FC Platinum where I am happy and aiming to win silverware.

“I need more time to improve my game, I did not play very well last season so this season I will try to work harder to raise the standard of my game.”

The Zvishavane miners missed out on the league title on goal difference to eventual winners Dynamos in their debut season in 2011 but were a pale shadow of themselves in last year’s campaign, finishing a disappointing seventh on the final standings.

Gahadzikwa was a prime Dynamos target when his contract with Motor Action expired at the end of 2011, but the champions failed to match the figures tables by Platinum.

Following an indifferent season with Platinum last year, DeMbare were reported to have revived their interest in the lanky midfielder.

“I have heard a lot about my intended move to Dynamos. These are just rumours,” said Gahadzikwa.
Platinum, who recently appointed Zambian Tenant Chilumba as coach, last week offloaded several senior players ahead of the upcoming 2013 season. Gahadzikwa survived.

Zephaniah Ngodzo, Benjamin Marere, Norman Togara, Cabby Kamhapa, Thandazani Ndlovu, Hardlife Mavundi, Rowen Nenzou and Tsungi Mudzamiri were deemed surplus to requirement and asked to leave the club. – Blessings Mashaya
