The Lion Lager Summer Festival headlined by P Square to be held on October 13 at Glamis Arena, Harare Exhibition Park has announced a star-studded cast of supporting acts.

At a press conference held at the Delta Beverages Southerton Plant on Tuesday, each of the 11 Zimbabwean acts took turns to not only express their pleasure at the opportunity to perform at the Festival but expressed excitement at the opportunity to perform alongside the collection of Zimbabwean artistes represented at the event.

Chiwoniso Maraire summed up the general feeling in saying, “Everyone here at this table is either a friend or family to me”. This team spirit also saw participating artistes promise collaborations in various forms with Amara Brown revealing that she will be collaborating with Winky D at the festival.

The event will feature the following supporting acts, Alexio Kawara, Amara Brown, Ba Shupi, DJ Banks, Chiwoniso Maraire, Mic Inity, Nox, Prudence Katomeni-Mbofana, DJ Rax, Roki and Winky D.

The annual Lion Lager Summer Festival is part of Delta Beverages customer relations exercises.

A lead-up to the festival on October 13 will see the beverage manufacturer engaging in various social responsibility exercises which involve some participating artistes such as P Square. The Harare International Festival of the Arts (Hifa), who are the event management organisation for this year’s edition of the festival, indicated that the social responsibility activities will benefit the less-privileged and not just Lion Lager patrons.

The event organisers said more details on different activities and P Square’s itinerary while in Harare will be released soon.

Information on how punters from across Zimbabwe will be able to participate in the festival will be availed soon as well.

However, P Square will only be performing in Harare.

Patricia Murambinda, Delta Beverages marketing manager, noted that this year the Lion Lager Summer Festival is dealing with a calibre of an artiste that required an extremely high level of organisational and presentation nous.

Tafadzwa Simba, Hifa media liaison officer said, “Hifa was engaged to run the event which is promising to attain world-class standards not only because Hifa and Delta have had a relationship for 14 years and worked on various projects together, but also because Hifa is the largest event organisation and has been staging the largest international festival in sub-Saharan Africa.

“The Lion Lager Summer Festival will mostly comprise Zimbabwean artistes, who are amongst the best in the country, along with some international guests. This is very much Hifa’s structure thus priming Hifa to be best capable of running the high-calibre event.”
