HARARE – One of the most enthralling title races in recent memory reaches its peak when Highlanders and Dynamos clash in their respective matches today aiming at nothing short of victory.
Barbourfields Stadium will set the stage for log leaders Highlanders to host resurgent Motor Action in a match that is hard to predict.
In the reverse fixture the sides shared the spoils in a match that ended 0-0 in Harare.
Bosso, unbeaten in 19 games will be hoping for an outright victory to ease the pressure from relentless defending champions Dynamos.
Dynamos, who have a game in hand going into today’s fixture with relegation threatened Gunners, seat on 40 points, three points adrift of Bosso.
The 19-time Zimbabwe champions, who mastered the art of rallying from behind last season to clinch the title right under the nose of FC Platinum, troop into Rufaro Stadium aiming to continue their winning ways.
Sweat and blood can be expected this afternoon as Gunners will be putting their bodies on the line to avoid defeat as that result will plunge them deeper into the relegation zone.
Chando Kupisa occupies the last relegation spot in 13th place with only 18 points from 19 matches.
Dynamos, who will be aiming to collect three points against Gunners, will be praying for Motor Action to do them a favour in Bulawayo and at least hold the log leaders.
This scenario will mean Dynamos who have lost twice so far this season will be in the driver’s seat against a Highlanders side that is still unbeaten, shifting the balance of power into the Dynamos corner.
Dynamos will have their destiny firmly in their own hands and may gate-crash the title party when they fulfil their outstanding fixture.
On the ground that is just a mere forecast as Highlanders, who finished last season trophy-less and having been chasing the Premier league for five elusive years will be hungry to stay aloft of their bitter rivals, Dynamos.
Kelvin Kaindu’s men will have to show their desire to win is greater than their fear of losing.
Whichever way the dice will roll today; both teams have to collect maximum points to stay in the hunt.
Meanwhile, on the bottom end of the Castle Premier Soccer league table, CAPS United who are just a point above the drop zone, travel to Mutare looking to dispose Buffaloes to put their campaign back on the rails.
Dynamos v Gunners (Rufaro), Hwange v Chicken Inn (Colliery), Hardbody v Quelaton (Ascot), Highlanders v Motor Action (Barbourfields), Buffaloes v CAPS United (Sakubva).
